 Good Points

  • Excellent stride range from 20” to 22”. This should satisfy users of most heights
  • Many ellipticals especially from competing brands lack the ability to incline but this is not the case with the Proform 14.0 RE.
  • The 20 lb flywheel is reasonably heavy so you should expect a reasonable smooth and steady workout experience
  • Pretty decent value for your money at the review price of $699

Bad Points

  • For the price, we don’t see any overwhelming flaws but we don’t see anything also that makes us want to say “Buy! Buy! Buy!”

Verdict

The Proform 14.0 RE elliptical is a newly released model just in time for Black Friday and 2013. At the time of review, there is a sale going on with a discount of $600 off the regular price. This brings the price down to $699 and in our opinion, great value for your money. Let’s take a look at why.

Ellipticals less than $800 are considered starter or budget ellipticals. At this price, one usually expects an elliptical that functions but doesn’t function particularly well. One should also expect a reasonably reliable but not reliable enough to withstand more than several years of consistent use without encountering some technical problems.  With the Proform RE 14.0, it is a case where we get a lot of different features and functions for its price level, but quality and reliability that is only slightly better than the competitor.

Having multiple adjustable strides, multiple incline settings, almost 2 dozen different workout programs, MP3 player support, workout air fans, 20 resistance levels and oversized, cushioned pedals scores it a lot of points in the features and specs department especially since it’s a $699 elliptical.  An average warranty with a low (but honest) weight capacity and an unspecified product weight leaves us with doubts in regards to just how long it can last under heavy use.
